Scenic Houston has announced the winners of the inaugural My Scenic Houston Photo Contest. In May, Scenic Houston invited photographers of all disciplines and experience levels to submit up to eight images of outdoor spaces that represent the beauty and character of the eclectic Houston community. A panel of judges selected one photograph as the Overall Best in Show Winner, along with nine additional photographs as regular contest winners. Panelists included Melissa Schmitz of Kirksey, Roksan Okan-Vick of Houston First, Ashley Grigsby of Transwestern, Vernon Caldera of Left Brain Right Brain Design, and David Brown of Houston Arts Alliance. Images were evaluated based on scenic beauty, originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit.

“We were blown away by the contestants’ compelling portrayal of Houston’s built and natural environments,” said Scenic Houston Executive Director Heather Houston. “These photos represent what we already know about our great city – it is beautiful, photogenic, and scenic. Scenic Houston is grateful to the incredibly talented local photographers who allowed us to see their scenic Houston through a camera lens.”
The Overall Best in Show photograph was featured at the Scenic Visionary Annual Dinner on November 2.
