Scenic Star Award recognizes individuals, organizations, and projects that help make Houston a more attractive place to live, work and visit. By celebrating these scenic stars – rising and shining – our hope is that all Houstonians feel empowered and inspired to make scenic changes in their own lives and communities, so that our city continues to improve.
2021 SCENIC STAR RECIPIENTS
Clark Condon, Houston-based landscape architecture firm, goes far beyond form and function, pouring energy and soul into every project. Spending more than three decades creating meaningful outdoor environments across Houston – from engaging green spaces to nature-infused cityscapes – Clark Condon’s community focused designs are making Houston a more scenic city, one project at a time.
Houston Botanic Garden
The newly opened Houston Botanic Garden is a 132-acre living museum for tropical, sub-tropical, and arid plants from the Gulf Coast region and around the globe. The diversity of the Garden’s collection reflects the cultural richness of the Bayou City, and the variety of ways its people connect with and use plants as part of their collective traditions.
Houston Parks Board
For 45 years, Houston Parks Board has created, improved, protected, and advocated for parks for all. Playing a key role in creating a more scenic Houston, the nonprofit is working to create a resilient system of green space that provides equitable distribution of park land, access and connectivity, flood mitigation, active transportation and conservation, and restoration of important ecosystems.
